Volunteering in Moldova

1. Teach English in Moldova, Causeni

Volunteer as an English teacher in a Community Language Centre situated in the scenic town of Causeni, located about eighty kilometres from the Moldovan capital city of Chisinau. Volunteers meet over one hundred and fifty motivated students of varying ages, from seven to fifty-five.

The volunteer teachers will work with students who mostly started learning English at approximately ten years old. Their role is mainly to teach conversational English. They receive guidance and assistance from local teachers, especially with regard to lesson content and preparation. While they are expected to have a flexible outlook, volunteers usually get a chance to choose which age group they would like to teach.

Moldovan students rarely get any opportunity to travel and are eager to learn about volunteers’ home country.
